The National Secondary School Computer Fund (NSSCF) is a $2.1 billion program in the Commonwealth Government’s Digital Education Revolution (DER) initiative.
The program will run over six years (2007-08 to 2012-13) and will be delivered to Victorian government schools with students in Years 9 to 12 through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD). The principle objective of the NSSCF is to achieve a computer-to-student ratio of 1:1 for Year 9 to 12 students by the end of 2011.
Round 1 of the NSSCF provided $14.672 million to Victorian government schools identified by the Commonwealth Government as having the greatest need for Information and Communications Technology improvements.
The focus of Round 2 and Round 2.1 is to move all schools with enrolments in Years 9 to 12 towards a state-wide target of a 1:2 computer-to-student ratio. Victorian government schools will share in approximately $29.7 million to achieve this goal.
DEECD will advise schools shortly of the model and timing of future funding rounds to move schools from a 1:2 computer-to-student ratio to 1:1.
The Commonwealth has also provided funding to contribute to the costs associated with effectively deploying and supporting each additional computer provided under the NSSCF.
