GST Fundraising Wheel

The Tax Compliance Unit has developed a new tool to assist schools with understanding and implementing GST for fundraising activities.

We have been very aware since the introduction of GST, that many schools face a conundrum when trying to decide which GST CASES code to apply to their fundraising activities.

Should it be an "NPSE", "Input Taxed", "GST -Free" or "Fully Taxed"?

So we developed this simple Excel-based 5 step tool to simplify these decisions.

Click here to download the GST Fundraising Wheel (Excel - 374Kb).

You may need to adjust your system settings on Excel to run this program. You will need to have the "Macro Security Settings" set to Medium or below to run the macros inherent in the program. You do this by opening Microsoft Excel and selecting: Tools --> Macro --> Security, then select Medium.

When you open the Fundraising Wheel file you will be asked if you want to "Enable or Disable macros". You should choose "Enable" for the program to run.

A clear answer to your GST query

The final screen of the tool provides a table detailing the GST treatment of the selections you made on the entry and budget screens, including CASES and CASES21 GST coding. We have also included draft motions for NPSE (Word - 20Kb) and Input Taxed (Word - 20Kb) fundraising events to assist this approval and documentation process for the school council minutes. This can be printed out to append to School Council minutes or other filing purposes.

There is also an extensive Help facility, which details how to use the tool as well as explaining the Fundraising activities, GST treatments and Motions.
