Communicating with Parents

Schools are responsible for communicating the availability of the EMA to eligible families and for providing relevant information for parents or guardians. To support schools with these responsibilities, a letter to parents and a sample newsletter article, explaining how the EMA works and the changes in 2010, are provided below.

Government schools letter for parents

The letter from John Brumby, MP, Premier of Victoria and Hon Bronwyn Pike, MP, Minister for Education provides all the relevant information for parents or guardians on the EMA and the changes in 2010. Schools are requested to provide a copy of the letter to eligible parents or guardians when they submit their completed EMA application.
