SuperClubsPLUS Australia Trial

SuperClubsPLUS Australia (SCPA) is an actively protected, social learning network for young children 6-12 years. It provides an engaging learning experience centred on ICT, literacy and citizenship and allows students to chat and collaborate in a protected environment online.

As part of its KnowledgeBank: Next Generation (KB:NG) project the Department is conducting a two year trial of SCPA. By providing free access for up to 100 000 Victorian year 3 and 4 students to use SCPA as a classroom learning and teaching tool the Department will be able to evaluate the program's impact on student learning.

The trial period will run until December 2010. The free membership offer will expire December 2010 or when 100,000 students are registered, whichever comes first. Register now for membership in 2009 and register by December 2009 for 2010 membership.

NEWS ALERT! DEECD NetBook Project Trial

Year five and six students taking part in the NetBook Project are now able to register for the SCPA trial. To register your students, please use the forms on the registration page.

While they are on the SuperClubsPLUS Australia site students are kept protected as only students who have been validated by their school will be online. Fully trained mediators, all of whom are teachers with current Working with Children checks and VIT registration, actively mediate all children's activities. The SCPA trial will inform the development of cybersafety standards and policy.

Students can upload media, publish articles, build personalised web pages, run their own clubs, complete projects, join discussion forums, chat with friends, achieve their ICT 'Star Awards', and participate in 'Hot Seats'. The same mediators also stimulate thinking and encourage the children as they grow in online confidence. All students participating are expected to attain their cybersafety star before progressing to further achievements.

SCPA is operated by Intuitive Media Pty Ltd. The successful SCPA parent program, SuperClubsPLUS (UK) was originally funded by the UK Department for Education and Skills. There are currently up to 130 000 primary students and 14 000 teachers across the UK and around the world that are registered with Intuitive Media’s protected learning network.
