Level 4.0
Pathway & Language category: Pathway 1 (Roman Alphabetical)
Task Description Students have been learning about Christmas traditions in Germany. In this task they imagine celebrating the Christmas season in Germany. They create a suitable e-postcard to email to their teacher back in Melbourne. They use the internet to search for appropriate images, and software to create a German Christmas-themed e-postcard. They write a message saying where they are, what the weather is like, and describing a particular custom they have taken part in. They use the writing conventions appropriate to card-writing. They check and edit their writing. They email the e-card to their teacher

When working on this product, students will be searching the Internet for suitable websites containing images and text to use in their e-cards. They will have to read some German words and phrases in the web pages, and apply their intercultural knowledge, in order to choose images related to the custom they will be writing about.

When working on this product, students will be searching the Internet and using computer applications to create their e-cards. Presentation skills may be needed to arrange text, images and other design elements to create a product suitable for the purpose. I am also interested in seeing the standards that relate to “creating and making” to see if they are relevant to this task.

These attributes were selected because the teacher expects to see evidence of checking and self-correction during the development of this student product. As it is an e-card that needs to be typed and then emailed to the teacher, there may be relevant ICT skills used. The teacher also wishes to see whether relevant standards are linked to the “culture” attribute.
