TGV (Train Grande Vitesse) is a network of high speed trains that connect many cities in France. These trains are among the most advanced in the world and can travel at 300km per hour. At this speed a trip from Paris to Marseille (about the same distance as Melbourne to Sydney) takes just 3 hours. The trains, which are powered by electricity, began operating in 1981.
