Management of Unplaced VPS Employees
Redeployment is the primary workforce management strategy to resolve situations where ongoing employees are unplaced due to changes to the organisational structure.
The principles that guide redeployment are as follows:
- the employer must consult with employees affected or potentially affected by redeployment in a timely manner;
- the employer must consult with the Community and Public Sector Union;
- all employees are to be treated fairly;
- the manager and employee have an obligation to take all reasonable steps to ensure redeployment occurs;
- redeployment must not be used to change the employment status of an employee; and
- redeployment cannot be used as an alternative to dealing with unsatisfactory performance.
The process for the management of ongoing unplaced VPS employees is illustrated below.
