Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2008
The Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2008 between the Department and the Australian Education Union came into operation on 30 July 2008.
The key features of the agreement are:
- Four salary increases effective from the first pay period on or after:
- 4.9% - 1 May 2008
- 2.71% - 1 January 2009
- 2.71% - 1 January 2010
- 2.71% - 1 January 2011
- Lump sum payment on commencement of the agreement:
- $2,000 – Principal Class
- $1,500 – Leading Teacher range 2
- $1,000 – Classroom teacher (with the exception of E-2, E-1 G-2 and G-1)
- A revised principal class structure
- The merging of leading teacher range 1 and range 2 into a single salary range
- Introduction of subdivision E-4 at the top of the classroom teacher scale
- Removal of sub divisions G-1 and G-2 at the bottom of the classroom teacher scale
- Introduction of a common salary progression date of 1 May each year commencing on 1 May 2009
- Commitment to Blueprint for Education and Early Childhood Development (2008) initiatives, school improvement and improved instructional practice.
In addition to the agreement, Ministerial Order 199 sets out the terms and conditions of employment for the principal, teacher and paraprofessional classes.
