Teaching Service
Overview
Full-time employees are entitled to 152 hours (20 days) annual leave per annum. Part-time employees receive an annual leave entitlement on a pro rata basis calculated according to the time fraction worked.
Annual leave accrues at the rate of 1/12 of the annual entitlement (12.66 hours for a full time employee) for each completed month of employment. Service for annual leave accrual purposes includes all periods of:
- duty
- paid leave
- leave without pay not exceeding one month in any calendar year.
Employees are expected to use annual leave during school holiday periods unless otherwise approved. Public holidays that fall during a period of annual leave are not regarded as part of that leave.
Additional annual leave - education support class
Education support class employees whose mode of employment is less than 52/52 are entitled to additional annual leave, as follows:

Procedures & Forms
For education support class employees, the following applies:
- Annual leave is automatically entered on eduPay during school vacation periods for 48/52 (calendar year) education support class employees, based on the entitlements that have accrued during the preceding term.
- Applications for leave from other education support class employees should be submitted through Employee Self Service (ESS) on eduPay. Select the following link for more information ESS eduPay.
- An application will need to be made in writing where an employee is unable to access or use ESS or wishes to amend/delete leave submitted through ESS and approved on eduPay.
