OHS Hazard Management

In order to successfully manage OHS hazards in your workplace you must:

• Identify health and safety hazards;
• Assess any risks associated with them;
• Control the hazard; and
• Regularly review controls to ensure they remain effective.

There are a number of procedures and checklists in this section for specific hazards in DEECD workplaces; however you should first focus on understanding your workplace’s broader OHS risk profile by accessing the OHS Risk Register. For further information see OHS Risk Management. 

Once this is done, you will be able to identify which procedures are required to be implemented at your workplace. DEECD has developed a number of one page guides for quick reference to common OHS hazards in DEECD workplaces, see OHS Hazards.
