Inclusive Classroom School Resource

The Association for Children with a Disability has developed a new online Inclusive Classroom School Resource for teachers in Victorian government mainstream primary school provides information about teaching students with a disability and working in partnership to support the educational needs of all students. 

The resource consists of four sections:

  1. Students with disabilities in mainstream schools
  2. Educational planning
  3. Family perspectives
  4. Teachers and families working together.

Bar None Community Awareness Kit for Schools

The Bar None Community Awareness Kit for Schools provides information and curriculum support for teachers to:

  • enhance their knowledge and understanding of disability
  • create a welcoming, inclusive school community
  • foster a culture of openness and discussion around disability.

The Kit is comprised of a number of components including:

  • Teacher information booklet
  • Curriculum units
  • Train the trainer module
  • DVD
  • Brochure and poster

Positive Education Planning

The Positive Education Planning booklet, developed by the Association for Children with a Disability, describes positive planning for children with disabilities attending Victorian government primary schools.  It provides information and support to parents of children with disabilities and emphasises the importance of a positive partnership with the child's school as the foundation of a successful school experience for both the child and family.

The booklet includes parent stories and information on the following topics: 

  • Parents and schools: Developing positive partnerships 
  • The Student Support Group 
  • Understanding your child as a learner
  • Individual Learning Plans 
  • Setting goals
  • Supports for students with a disability 
  • Measuring your child's progress
  • Raising a concern 
  • Advocating for your child
