The Curriculum Toolkit provides strategies and tools that are designed to assist school leadership teams and teachers achieve improved and enhanced learning and teaching practices for all students including those with disabilities.
This resource has been developed to support curriculum reform as identified in the Blueprint for Government Schools. It offers a way forward in the delivery of inclusive education by presenting approaches to curriculum planning that can be implemented in all schools.
The curriculum toolkit has five components. Each component highlights a key principle that aims to improve inclusive curriculum practice and ensure consistency across the system. All five components are seen as essential to improve inclusive curriculum practice.
The five components in the toolkit are:
1. Student-centred planning
2. Embedding and referencing goals for students with disabilities in standard curriculum
3. Building blocks for quality classroom learning for students with disabilities
4. Managing the Human Resources in effective inclusive classrooms
5. Promoting Positive Behaviour Support in Schools
Each component contains documentation of exemplary practice for students with disabilities and examples of practice in Victorian government schools. The components also contain an Audit Tool and Proformas which can be download and used to assist implementation of the toolkit.
