Student support services
The student support service program enhances the capacity of Victorian government schools to meet the additional learning and wellbeing needs of children and young people through the provision of access to school and community specialist support. Student support services staff comprise visiting teachers, psychologists, guidance officers, speech pathologists, social workers, and other allied health professionals.
Strengthening student support services directions paper: The way forward
Following an extensive public consultation process during 2008, Strengthening student support services directions paper: The way forward was developed by the Department in January 2009 to outline the actions and strategies for implementation of the enhanced student support services program.

The discussion paper Strengthening student support services: A discussion paper for consultation was distributed in August 2008 to propose components for inclusion in a strengthened model.
This paper provided an opportunity for key stakeholders to have their say in shaping the future directions of student support services. As part of the Department’s consultation process.
