Safe Schools are Effective Schools

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is committed to providing safe, secure and stimulating environments for all students, and provides a range of an anti-bullying policies and strategies for schools to deliver on this commitment.
In 2006, the Department introduced new anti-bullying guidelines and policies for all Victorian government schools.
In line with these new policies and guidelines, and the Department's commitment to providing safe, secure and stimulating learning environments, schools will be required to review their Student Code of Conduct by the end of Term 2, 2008.
The 'Safe Schools are Effective Schools' strategy includes a definition of bullying, an anti-bullying policy, the key characteristics of safe and effective schools, strategies for schools including case studies of good practice schools and strategies for parents dealing with bullying incidents.

National Safe Schools Week
National Safe Schools Week 2007 in Victoria sought to celebrate the efforts of schools across the state in promoting good practices and policies in student wellbeing, celebrating student diversity and addressing bullying behaviour through preventative strategies.
