Occasional Child Care

Funding under the Take a Break and ACFE child care programs is provided to organisations on the basis of an effective full time (EFT) place. An EFT purchases 1,920 hours of care per annum, which is the equivalent of 40 hours per week for 48 weeks a year.

The current rate for the Take a Break and ACFE child care program funding is $3,270.85 per place (equal to 1,920 hours of care).

Take a Break child care

The Take a Break child care program provides respite for parents/guardians of children aged six years, enabling them to participate in a range of activities including recreational classes, activities, shopping, social events and voluntary community activities.

The Take a Break child care program is jointly funded by the Victorian and Commonwealth governments and is administered by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. This funding is a contribution towards the organisation's child care operating costs, such as salaries, on costs and consumable items.

Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) child care

The Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) child care program is funded by the Victorian Government and administered by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

The program provides child care so that parents or guardians are able to access vocational education and training through the Adult Community Education (ACE) sector. Providers of ACFE child care include neighbourhood houses, learning centres, adult learning groups, adult literacy groups, community centres and community houses.
