Evaluation 2002-2006

Statewide Best Start Evaluation

The Best Start Statewide Evaluation was undertaken by the University of Melbourne over a period of four years.  There were a number of key areas that underpinned the evaluation which included identifying:

The improvements to the child outcomes across the domains of health and wellbeing, education and schooling, housing and child protection introduced through Best Start

  • 28 April, 2008 to engage vulnerable children and families not currently using universal services and how successful were they
  • identifying those strategies that were most effective and gauging how much more widely they could be applied to other services and in other communities
  • other improvements that achieved as a result of Best Start
  • the characteristics of the partnerships associated with achieving better outcomes

The Statewide Evaluation included regular feedback to the individual partnerships as well as annual reports that considered the overall impact of the initiative.
