Checkpoint 13.1 - Core
Student anonymity is protected
DEECD Requirement
DEECD Guideline
The Information Privacy Act 2000 (IPA 2000) requires the privacy of individuals to be protected, whether the identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained. Student information is particularly sensitive as it deals with minors who are unable to give consent to publishing of their information.
Requirement
No information is to be published on websites that identifies, or could lead to the identity of, a student. Permission to display images of students and others on departmental web sites must be gained in writing before inclusion on the web pages.
Checking Tool
View the web page in a browser to identify any photographs of students or other people. Confirm with the content owner that appropriate permissions have been obtained to display these photographs.
