Checkpoint 10.2 - Core

There is consistency between page title, headings and navigation items

WCAG 1.0 Priority 3

WCAG Guideline 14. Ensure that documents are clear and simple.

Consistency between page titles, headings and navigation items allows users to locate navigation items more easily as well as skipping navigation items to more easily find important content. This helps people with learning and reading disabilities as well as making navigation easier for all users. Predictability will increase the likelihood that people will find information on the web site, or avoid it if required.

Requirement

Ensure that titles, headings and navigation items within each web page agree with each other in meaning, including any breadcrumb navigation.

Checking Tool

View the title of the web page and the breadcrumb links that are present in the browser and ensure that it matches the other headings and navigation items on the page.
