Checkpoint 2.15 - Mobile-PDA

Non-essential links are included at the bottom of the page

WCAG 1.0 Priority 2

WCAG Guideline 13. Provide clear navigation mechanisms.

The best user experience is supported by mechanisms which make it easy for the user to navigate to and view the desired content. Screen space is limited on mobile devices so any non-essential links should be placed at the bottom of the page. The user will naturally move to this location as the content is viewed and requiring the user to scroll back to the top of the page should be avoided.

Requirement

Non-essential links are included at the bottom of the page

Recommendation

The user should be given some place to go when they reach the bottom of the page. This could be to the parent page, to related content, to home or to a navigation listing.

Checking Tool

View the page on a mobile device and verify that non-essential links are located at the bottom of the page.
