Limitations exist on input to mobile devices compared to desktop-based browsers. Usually there is no pointing device such as a mouse, and keyboards are small and difficult to type on.


The number of required keystrokes is kept to a minimum


Consider any requirements for typing in URLs when testing this point.

Where possible, selection lists, radio buttons and other controls that do not require typing should be used. Where possible use previous entries as defaults and it should be possible to select items using navigation keys and/or numeric input.

Checking Tool

Navigate the page and test all user input. Ensure that there is no need for a large number of keystrokes.

View the source code of the page and look for any instances of <input type="text"..> or any <textarea> elements, and check for any default values in form controls.
