Checkpoint 5.13 - Mobile-PDA
Font styling, size and family are not required to understand or interact with the site
DEECD Requirement
DEECD Guideline
Mobile devices do not have a large set of fonts to call upon when displaying information, nor do they have an easy, user-friendly mechanism for downloading and installing new fonts on demand. Relying on particular font styling, size, font family and other effects to present information may result in some users not being able to receive this information.
Requirement
Font styling, font size and font family are not required to understand or interact with the site
Recommendation
Where font styling is used, consider the information and functional impact on the user. This may be used to highlight an answer or stress a word.
Checking Tool
Check the site for any font-related styling. If it exists, ensure that information is not lost if it cannot be displayed. Ensure all text can be read in relation to the size of the font and the family of fonts used.
