Checkpoint 6.3 - Mobile-PDA

Foreground and background colours have high contrast

WCAG 1.0 Priority 2

WCAG Guideline 2. Don't rely on color alone.

Mobile phones are often used in environments where the lighting is not optimal for viewing the contents on the screen. The small size of the screen is also a limitation in being able to clearly see content. Where there is poor colour contrast between the foreground and background items this problem is increased and may make some parts of the content unusable.

Requirement

Foreground and background colours have high contrast

Recommendation

Colour on its own must not be used to indicate a function or a feature

Checking Tool

View the page with a strong light parallel to the screen, to simulate poor viewing conditions, and see if all parts of the screen are viewable.
