Images that are not required for providing valuable information to the user can use up valuable download time and cost. If the mobile device has limited contrast or is used in environments where lighting is not optimal, a background image may interfere with the readability of the overlying text on the screen.

Consider how the page will be used and the circumstances under which the user will be viewing the information when designing the look and feel of the page on a mobile device.
