WCAG Guideline 1. Provide equivalent alternatives to auditory and visual content.

People with cognitive disabilities sometimes find it very difficult to interpret an image map and so find text links preferable.

Requirement

Where image maps are provided, each active region of the image map must also be provided as a text link.

Checking Tool

  • Browse through the web page to ensure that redundant text links are provided for each active region of a client-side image map.
