Checkpoint 9.10 - Core

A sitemap has been provided listing main pages in the site

WCAG 1.0 Priority 2

WCAG Guideline 13. Provide clear navigation mechanisms.

One method of finding information on a web site is via a Sitemap of the main sections of a site

Requirement

Ensure that the web site has a sitemap and that all pages link to the sitemap.

Recommendation

Including all pages within a web site in the site map is usually unworkable due to the large number of web pages present. To make the sitemap usable as an alternative global navigation mechanism, ensure that the main sections and subsections of the web site are contained in the sitemap.

Checking Tool

View the site in a browser to check for a sitemap link in the global navigation on the web pages.
