Checkpoint 1.17 - Flash

A zooming mechanism has been provided to increase the size of text

WCAG 1.0 Priority 2

WCAG Guideline 6. Ensure that pages featuring new technologies transform gracefully.

Flash content can easily be scaled without pixilation because it is vector based. This could be beneficial for people with low vision who browse content with the use of screen magnifiers or on low resolution screens.

Flash movies should be made scalable in relation to the browser window where possible.

Since it is not possible to increase Flash text size via the browser, a zooming mechanism should be provided that allows users to increase or decrease text size of the Flash content.

Requirement

Ensure that all text information of the Flash movie or application is resizable.

Checking Tool

Examine the content in the browser to ensure the text can be increased.
