Welcome to the Developer's Resource Kit website

Quality Assurance requirements within the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) are determined from a number of sources, which include the Whole of Victorian Government Web Site Guidelines, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and State and Federal legislation such as the Information Privacy Act 2000  http://www.legislation.vic.gov.au/ and the Equal Opportunity Act 1995  http://www.legislation.vic.gov.au/Domino/Web_Notes/LDMS/PubLawToday.nsf/a12f6f60fbd56800ca256de500201e54/1f974b70ea40db6eca25750500811480/$FILE/95-42a055.pdf.

All DEECD online communications must adhere to these policies, legislation and guidelines. The Developer's Resource Kit amalgamates, interprets and presents these in one centralised location and has been designed as a knowledge bank of Quality Assurance (QA) requirements, recommendations, checking tools, examples, and source references.

The Developer's Resource Kit will make it easier for external and internal technical developers and clients to find the answers to their questions about Quality Assurance and website requirements in a single repository.

Quality Assurance Guidelines

The Quality Assurance Guidelines are a very important part of the Kit. They have been developed in response to these standards, legislations and guidelines, and they make up the list of points that all Department of Education and Early Childhood Development websites and web applications are tested against.

All DEECD websites must be tested against the checklists associated with the Quality Assurance Guidelines and a report provided to the business owner of the site/application, so as to ensure all DEECD websites meet the relevant criteria before being released for public viewing. The Guidelines and checklists are regularly updated to comply with any new standards, policies or legislation where necessary.
