Parent group information for MCH nurses

The following resource focuses on the role of the maternal and child health nurse as a group facilitator. There are some tips for running effective groups and a series of sessions detailed. Nurses can select directly from these sessions for their group work or they can adapt them to suit the needs of their own groups and facilitation styles. Get set for Life - Habits for healthy kids' Guide

Practical information on children's health and covers techniques and tips for teaching children healthy habits that could last a lifetime. Key areas of health and age-appropriate development covered in the guide include: healthy eating; regular exercise; speech and language; oral health; and more. Royal Children's Hospital - Community Paediactric Review

Maternal health

Parenting help

Parenting Research Centre

Provides education, training, research and demonstration services to support professionals working in the parenting field. The centre co-ordinates a number of programs and links agencies, facilitating the sharing of research related parenting information. It also provides a varied range of support in the integration of these initiatives into a sound framework for parenting service delivery for Victorian families. To avoid potentially tragic consequences, the Never Leave Kids in Cars campaign reminds parents to take their kids with them whenever they get out of the car, just as they do their valuables. Domestic and family violence referral options

A booklet prepared by the Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria developed for use for workers in the domestic and family violence sector.  Hard copies are provided to all participants at the Family Violence training sessions.  The booklet is updated approximately twice a year.
