Teacher Graduate Recruitment Program - How it works

Teacher Graduate Recruitment Program vacancies are advertised by schools via Recruitment Online and are additional to the many teacher vacancies advertised and positions available for final-year students under the Department's Teaching Scholarships.

When searching for graduate teacher or teaching scholarship positions on Recruitment Online, it is recommended you use the Advanced Search and check the ‘Teacher’ box in the Job Category section and select ‘Graduate Teacher Program’ or ‘Teacher Scholarship Program’ from the Classification field. You may wish to further refine your search criteria by specifying location, subject/duties level and other preferences.

After the closing date for applications in response to vacancies advertised on Recruitment Online under the Graduate Recruitment Program, a merit-based selection process is used to determine the best available graduate.

All graduates employed through the program are required to provide the principal with certified copies of all official academic records, proof of age and identity, and statements of any prior teaching service. If you are successful, you must also be registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and satisfy all Department pre-employment requirements before commencing employment.
