Teaching Scholarships

Teacher graduate opportunities

There are financial incentives of up to $11,000 available to final-year student teachers and new teacher graduates through the Teaching Scholarship Scheme to take up employment in priority teaching vacancies. Teaching Scholarship vacancies commencing in 2011 are now being progressively advertised.

To be eligible graduates will need to have completed their studies during the 12 months prior to the vacancy commencement date.

The scholarship benefit not only includes a cash payment but also an offer of ongoing employment and salary will be paid from the 1 January if employed from the beginning of Term 1. The initiative has been developed to attract the brightest and best teacher graduates to teach in Victorian government schools, particularly in priority curriculum and geographic areas.

Benefits available under the Teaching Scholarship are additional to the Commonwealth government HECS-HELP benefit offered to eligible graduates to reduce Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) repayments or debt.  See Commonwealth HECS-HELP benefit under More information.
