Teaching Scholarships

There are financial incentives for final-year student teachers and new graduates through the Teaching Scholarship Scheme to take up employment in priority teaching vacancies. Teaching Scholarship vacancies commencing in 2010 are now being progressively advertised.

The scholarship benefit includes a cash payment and ongoing employment, in order to attract the brightest and best teacher graduates to teach in Victorian government schools, particularly in priority curriculum and geographic areas.

Benefits available under the Teaching Scholarship are additional to the Commonwealth government HECS-HELP benefit offered to eligible graduates to reduce Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) repayments or debt.  See Commonwealth HECS-HELP benefit under more information.
