Each annual intake of the Maths and Science Graduate Scholarship provides for 50 scholarships with individual recipient payments of up to $9000 available.
If you apply and are successful, $5000 is paid shortly after you commence an approved graduate entry teaching course.
If you go on to secondary teaching in Victorian government schools you are then eligible for additional scholarship payments.
$1000 is paid if you secure ongoing or fixed term employment of 12 months or longer. Employment must commence by the beginning of the second term after you complete your course.
Up to $3000 is paid at the beginning of your third year of continuous approved fixed term or ongoing teaching employment with the Department. There is a four tier scale of payment with the amount payable determined by the school location in which you worked in the previous two years.
If you receive a scholarship you are also encouraged to explore the full range of supply and recruitment initiatives offered by the Department. Vacancies advertised as part of the Department's Teaching Scholarship Scheme provide for additional grants of up to $5000. For rural appointments there is also potential for additional benefits of up to $4000.
