You are eligible to apply for the Maths and Science Graduate Scholarships if you are a graduate or final-year student and you meet the requirements for graduate teaching course entry into a commonwealth supported place with at least one method area in the mathematics or science domains.
You must have an approved university degree that includes study as prescribed in the Victorian Institute of Teaching's Specialist Area Guidelines. The specialist area guidelines prescribe the following minimum levels of study for subjects in the Mathematics and Science domains.
Mathematics
Science
Priority is given to those graduates applying for method studies in the area of Mathematics, General Science or Physics. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduates are also particularly encouraged to apply.
Applications for the 2010 scholarship intake will open on 27 July 2009. If you wish to apply, you are also required to apply for course entry. Applications for graduate course entry are made through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) or for a small number of courses directly to the university. You must meet university and VTAC application requirements and timelines. Application for 2010 course entry through VTAC will open in August 2009 - see Graduate Teaching Course Entry (VTAC) (http://www.vtac.edu.au/applying.html).
Scholarships awarded under the Maths and Science Graduate Scholarship are dependent on selection to an approved graduate entry teaching course with an appropriate method study.
If you are a qualified teacher or completing your teacher education course see: Scholarships and incentives.
