Scholarships and Incentives

Victoria needs high-quality graduates available to teach in Victorian government schools and early childhood centres. If you are considering a career in teaching, there are a number of scholarships and incentives available.

Final-year or new graduates

• Student Teacher Practicum Scheme - provides eligible student teachers with financial incentives to undertake practicum placements in Victorian government rural and outer metropolitan schools.
• Maths and Science Graduate Scholarship - seeks to attract graduates with mathematics or science studies to teaching.
• Teaching Scholarships - provide assistance to final-year student teachers and new teaching graduates to take up employment in hard to staff teaching vacancies.
• Teacher Graduate Recruitment Program - targets recent teaching graduates.
• Early Childhood Scholarships - seeks to attract high quality graduates as teachers in kindergarten programs.
• Early Childhood Intervention Scholarships and Incentives - seeks to attract high quality graduates to work in early childhood intervention.

Changing career to become a teacher

• Career Change Program - enables suitably qualified professionals with relevant experience to become teacher trainees in priority Victorian government schools.
