Supported teacher trainee opportunities in Victorian schools
The 2010 Career Change Program enables suitably qualified professionals and tradespeople with relevant experience to become teacher trainees in priority Victorian government schools.
Applications are now sought for a number of vacancies in the 2010 Program. Applications close on 28 October 2009 and should be made directly to the individually advertised schools. For vacancy details, applicant instructions and application forms, see Documents.
Through the Career Change Program trainees receive financial support and paid study leave as they combine supervised classroom duties with study towards a teaching qualification during a two-year training period.
As a trainee, you participate in a preparatory summer school before commencing classroom duties at the beginning of the 2010 school year. You also undertake an induction program in your school and receive ongoing support from an experienced school-based mentor or mentors.
If the two-year training period is successfully completed, you will be offered an ongoing teaching position in the school where you have trained. You may also be eligible for a retention incentive if you continue to be employed at the appointing school two years after the completion of your teacher education course, see Conditions.
