With around 1600 government schools across metropolitan Melbourne and in rural and regional Victoria, there are many diverse job opportunities in addition to teaching. These include:

  • specialists such as psychologists, nurses, welfare officers and speech pathologists
  • education support class employees undertaking a range of roles such as managing school finances, human resources, library, or providing assistance to teachers and students or providing out-of-school care and clerical support - all vital to the smooth day-to-day running of a school
  • Department staff that have responsibility for the policy development, coordination and administration of government schools across Victoria.
