Teach For Australia
Teach For Australia is a ground breaking new leadership and career development program, designed to prepare outstanding graduates from all degree disciplines for teaching in disadvantaged schools.
Victoria is pioneering this initiative and is ready for Teach For Australia Associates to commence two years of teaching in secondary schools from 2010. Government schools will be accepting a minimum of 75 graduates from the Teach for Australia program.
About the program
Working in Victorian schools, a new graduate (known as an Associate) will participate in training and development over a two year period, resulting in a full teaching qualification.
This teaching qualification is obtained while working in the classroom and is fully supported by teacher training and mentoring networks.
The core of the training program includes:
- Teaching training – intensive training at the Teach For Australia Academy before Associates start, and academic tuition throughout the two year program
- Dedicated mentors from the placement school and Teach For Australia – to provide coaching for the classroom and prepare Associates for future career aspirations
- Leadership and management training – training delivered by senior business leaders and leading academics
- Access to leading corporate partners - including fast-track arrangements, deferred offers and other leadership development opportunities.

Who can apply?
Teach For Australia is looking for outstanding and ambitious graduates from non-teaching disciplines to inspire and motivate students and become exceptional leaders.
Prerequisites include:
- Bachelor's degree within the last five years
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid full-time work visa
- no current eligibility to teach.
