Careers in Early Childhood
Victoria is fortunate to have so many committed professionals working to give our youngest Victorians the best start in life. Early childhood educators, maternal and child health nurses and allied health professionals working in early childhood intervention services are among those who provide essential support to families raising children through their formative early years.
It is a great time to consider a professional career in early childhood. Quality early childhood education and care experiences are central in developing children’s health, wellbeing and learning. Children learn to socialise and interact with their peer group, develop cognitive skills to think and problem solve and also learn skills in early literacy and numeracy. Early childhood education and care can equip children with the skills and capacity to be effective and engaged learners and improve their future outcomes in formal education.
Later this year the Victorian Government will release an Early Childhood Workforce Strategy which will include a range of new initiatives to support the development of the early childhood workforce.
