University

Universities provide higher education at two levels: undergraduate and postgraduate. In Victoria, there are nine public universities and more than 50 private providers, including four TAFE institutions and six interstate universities offering higher education programs.

Undergraduate

Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) (http://www.vtac.edu.au) provides information that allows you to work out what is the best TAFE, university or independent tertiary college to apply to, distance education or external courses, enrolment times and procedures, scholarships and TAFE or university fees.

Postgraduate

For information on postgraduate study contact the university (http://www.highered.vic.gov.au/universities/default.asp) directly as course information and prerequisites are outlined in their postgraduate handbooks.

More information

University students (http://www.highered.vic.gov.au/students) lists Victorian universities, information on finding courses, information for international students, and on making complaints.

Going to uni (http://www.goingtouni.gov.au) lists all universities and their courses across Australia. If you have a particular university in mind, you can use the Higher education providers at a glance section to find its contact information and then speak directly to a student admission officer or course adviser. It includes information on schemes to help with paying university fees and contributions, and information on scholarships.
