Adult VCE
The VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) can be studied by adults and completed in one year.
Adults undertake VCE as a pathway to:
- university and TAFE courses
- more satisfying work opportunities and new careers
- personal enrichment.
How is an adult defined?
You must meet two criteria to be enrolled as an adult.
- You must not have undertaken full-time secondary schooling for the full year preceding the first year of enrolment as an adult
- You must be at least 18 years of age on 1 January in the year of enrolment as an adult.
How do I achieve VCE?
In schools, students are required to complete a minimum of 16 half-year units of study, generally over two years. This does not apply if you are an adult.
If you are an adult intending to complete the VCE, it is assumed that you bring experience and knowledge learned outside the classroom to your studies. An adult may complete the VCE in one year or choose to take longer.
Entry requirements for the Adult VCE
While there are no formal entry requirements for studying the VCE as an adult, you should contact your preferred provider to see if they have any minimum educational requirements for adult students.
Where can I study?
You can study Adult VCE with a range of educational providers, including Adult Community Education providers and TAFE institutes.
