Career Pathways After School

There are many options to choose from when planning a future career pathway. This process can sometimes be overwhelming for young people.  There is support available to assist them in making the next step. When choosing a career, the options available for students include:

• Begin or Continue an Apprenticeship – provides information on apprenticeships and traineeships
• Continue with Further Education and Training – provides information on furthering your education including attending a TAFE or university
• Take a Gap Year – provides information on what options are available for taking a year off before you begin the next step
• Find Work – provides information on what support resources are available to help find work
• Start a Small Business – provides information on support resources available to begin your own small business.

Remember, you can move between any or all of these options. You are not restricted to one occupation or education level. Many people return to study to upgrade their qualifications, take on different career options or change to a completely different industry throughout their adult life.
