Primary Mathematics and Science Specialist initiative

Since 2012, the Primary Mathematics and Science Specialist initiative has trained primary school teachers as mathematics and science specialists across 113 Victorian primary schools. In 2016-17, 100 teachers will be trained as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) specialists, in 55 of Victoria’s rural, regional and low socio-economic area primary schools.

STEM Catalysts

The Secondary STEM Catalysts program will build the capacity of 60 teachers across 30 secondary schools from disadvantaged areas to lead, encourage and support changes to teaching Years 7-8 mathematics, science and digital technologies.

Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership

The Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership offers leadership professional development and learning opportunities related for Victorian primary, secondary and early childhood education professionals.

Courses include Leading Mathematics, which is designed for both primary and secondary school teams, with a focus on developing the knowledge, capabilities and dispositions to lead and support collegial learning and change.

Linking Learning Birth to 12 Years Project

The Linking Learning Birth to 12 Years Project aims to improve learning outcomes for Victorian children from birth to 12 years by supporting parents, educators, practitioners and professionals across early childhood and primary school settings to develop a comprehensive, cohesive and seamless approach to children's learning. The website covers a range of subject areas and links to STEM-related resources, events and research.
