Following a competitive tender process
Learning Communities Victoria (LCV) have been appointed as the successful consortium to deliver the Project.
LCV brings together significant expertise and PPP experience, including Amber as sponsor, ClarkeHopkinsClarke as architect, Watpac as builder, Spotless as facilities manager and YMCA and CERES as community partners.
The Project will support the Government's education agenda. The schools are designed as community hubs and will encourage community use and additional community facilities and programs through a partnership with the YMCA. The schools will also support inclusion of all learners, including students with a disability.
In addition to the 15 schools,
LCV will also deliver:
- 6 early learning centre's- proposed to be operated by YMCA and providing integrated long day care services;
- expanded indoor gymnasiums to Netball Victoira standards;
- a learn to swim pool at Mernda Central Prep- Year 12 school;
- a hydrotherapy pool at North Geelong Special Developmental School;
- additional multi-purpose spaces which will be used by the school during the day and operated by YMCA after hours to deliver before and after school care and other community programs; and
- Commercial kitchens at four schools, enabling the delivery of hospitality related VET programs.
Local families will be kept up-to-date on the creation of their new schools via community briefings prior to and during construction as well as before school openings.
The Project builds on the success of the
Partnerships Victoria in Schools Project which saw 12 new schools open in 2010 and 2011 through the partnership model.
