Cyber Teach Toolkit: Safe and responsible use of digital technologies teaching and learning content aims to support students to develop an understanding of the behaviours and processes which will help them to act in a safe and responsible manner when using digital technologies.
The Cyber Teach Toolkit teaching and learning content provides teaching ideas which can be integrated into the classroom curriculum at the genuine point of need in the classroom program. For example, in planning a unit of work, teachers can identify where digital technologies will be used and which teaching ideas will support the safe and responsible use of these technologies. This approach supports schools to develop a culture where online safety, and the responsibilities that underlie the use of technology, are developed and strengthened across all areas of the curriculum at all year levels.
It is recommended that teachers preview the videos suggested to ensure they are suitable for their students. Teachers should also preview any websites, blogs, wikis, images, etc. developed by students both within and outside of school which the students may wish to share with the class.
The Cyber Teach Toolkit resource has two parts.
- Part 1: Years Prep – 8 (VELS Levels 1 – 5)
- Part 2: Years 9 – 12.
The teaching ideas included in the Cyber Teach Toolkit address many of the domains within the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS).
Teachers may also wish to consider the Statements of Learning for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
