How to use the online magazine reader

The online version of Shine makes it easier to for you to view each volume online without the need for downloading a printable version of our magazine. We have provided a number of controls to help make it easy to navigate, including an index of the articles appearing in that edition. Below is an illustration of the main toolbar: 

To get started, the left hand side of the toolbar includes a number of buttons which provide basic navigation to help you change pages as well as increase the page size. The online edition displays two pages at a time except for the cover, where only one page is displayed. If you enlarge the view of the page you can still read both pages by clicking anywhere on the page and, keeping your finger 'clicked', moving the mouse - this will drag the image around the screen so you can read it at the magnified size.

On the right there is a control to show or hide the Index for the currently loaded issue. (You need to click on the index arrow again to hide the list.)

You can turn the page just like you would when reading an actual magazine by placing your mouse on a corner of a page corner and, while holding the mouse button down, dragging the page to the left. (Alternatively, use the Previous or Next page buttons).

To assist with navigation, the title of the current page is displayed in the middle of the toolbar and, where available, this refers to articles on the current pages.

Help: A look at the buttons and what they do

Button	Description
	Zoom In on the current page spread. When you are zoomed in, you can click-and-drag on the page to move the viewed area
	Zoom Out on the current page spread
	Go to the First Page
	Go to the Previous Page Spread.
	Go to the Next Page Spread
	Go to the Last Page
	Show or Hide the Index. The Index provides a list of articles in the current issue which provide links directly to that article's page.

Are you ready to get started? 

Great. All you need do is select the issue you want to view from the Shine catalog page and you'll be on your way. How easy is that?

Due to the large file size of the online issues, we recommend the use of a broadband internet connection. While a dial-up connection will work, download times may be lengthy. The size of each edition is displayed each time an online edition of Shine is loaded. For offline reading, a PDF version of each issue is available for download from the Catalog page (Please note: PDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view).
