Victorian school holidays start on 23 December and there are lots of activities happening around the state to keep children and young people entertained over the summer break.

Victoria’s Art Centre, galleries, museums and zoos all offer a range of holiday programs, performances, exhibitions and fun activities for school children of all ages.

During school holidays, children under the age of 16 receive free entry to Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and Werribee Zoo where they can learn about animals and reptiles from around Australia and the world, enjoy a free concert or learn what it’s like to be a zoo keeper.

Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks and the Immigration Museum all offer a range of summer school holiday programs where young people can join in fun activities like discovering the world of dinosaurs, learning about Aboriginal artworks and creating their own art installations.

Children can also enjoy a number of performances and workshops held at the Arts Centre over the holidays, including Angelina Ballerina's Big Audition, Charlie and Lola's Best Bestest Play and Off The Wall.

Victorian government school students return to school on 2 February 2012, but parents are advised to confirm their child’s first day back with their school.
