Nineteen Year 9 students in Broadmeadows joined Education Minister Bronwyn Pike for a class with 20 students in Shanghai. It was a part of Victoria’s Connections 2010 classroom exhibit at the World Expo in Shanghai, China.

The theme of the classroom – Connections 2010 – reflected the connections that the classroom creates between people, places, spaces and ideas.

Working from the IdeasLAB in Broadmeadows and Victoria’s high-tech modern classroom at the Shanghai Expo, students worked on a Better City Better Life project using interactive electronic whiteboards, mini-computers, video-conferencing, cameras, screens, projection systems and table-top touch screens.

Ms Pike said the classroom exhibit at the Shanghai Expo would also encourage both Chinese and international visitors to consider Victoria as a quality education destination for their children.

“We are proud that our education system is world-leading and as the only country with a classroom exhibit at the China Expo educators from all around the world are interested in what is happening here in Victoria,” explained Ms Pike.
