Denim-strate! Help today’s scientists for tomorrow’s children
News bulletin: 6 August 2009
One in twenty children in Australia are born with some form of genetic fault, ranging from leukaemia to muscular dystrophy and epilepsy.
Jeans for Genes Day, held on Friday 7 August, is a major fundraiser to help the Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI) unlock the mysteries of disease.
CMRI’s driving philosophy is that major advances in prevention and treatment come from research into the fundamental processes of life.
Through studying the interplay of genes, CMRI aim to come up with better ways to treat disease and to further prevent the occurrence of it in children.
The Jeans for Genes Day invites people of all ages to wear jeans on Friday 7 August and to get active and promote this important cause.
Participants can help out on the day by becoming a Jeans for Genes Day Genie or through fundraising in their local areas.
By supporting Jeans for Genes you will contribute to numerous discoveries made at the Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI).
