Awards Open for Sports Stars

Boys playing basketballNominations are now open for the 2012 Victorian School Sports Awards.

The awards celebrate the sporting achievements of some of Victoria’s best and brightest young sports stars in government schools, as well as the teachers and parents that support them.

The awards include a Sporting Blue category which rewards both primary and secondary students for their achievements in sports such as athletics, swimming, tennis and netball and four outstanding award categories:

  • Outstanding Sporting Achievement Award – presented to one primary student and one secondary student for their outstanding achievement in any sport.
  • Outstanding Community Contribution Award – presented to one primary and one secondary school parent, coach or volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to school sport.
  • Outstanding Teacher Contribution Award – presented to one primary school teacher and one secondary school teacher for their outstanding contribution to school sport.
  • Outstanding School and Community Partnerships Award – presented to a school that has developed successful partnerships with their local sporting community.

Nominations for the awards close on Friday 16 November.

The winners of the 2012 Victorian School Sports Awards will be presented at a ceremony in March 2013.
