Parliamentary Secretary
Steve Herbert, MP
The Parliamentary Secretary plays a key role in assisting the Minister for Education in her work. The Parliamentary Secretary is an appointed government member, who can represent and undertake many duties for the Minister, but does not have any portfolio responsibilities of their own.
Raised in Glenroy, Steve Herbert has lived in Melbourne’s north-eastern suburbs for most of his life. A qualified teacher, Steve has represented the Eltham District in the Victorian parliament since December 2002.
Aside from his passion for education, Steve is an avid member of the Hawthorn Football Club and attends as many games as he can. He also enjoys golf and is a keen freshwater angler. In addition to sport, Steve loves to read and enjoys live music performances. He is interested in conservation and native gardens, as well as bushwalking through our local forests and scrubland.
Steve has two active teenage children. He enjoys surfing trips with his son Jack and going to the theatre with his daughter Eliza.
