Victoria Teachers Credit Union Outstanding Primary Teacher Award

The Victoria Teachers Credit Union (VTCU) Outstanding Primary Teacher Award recognises excellence in the development and delivery of educational programs in the early and middle years of schooling by outstanding classroom teachers.

In establishing this award the Victorian Government is proud to acknowledge the teaching excellence of primary teachers. Primary teachers make a significant difference to the lives of their students. Outstanding primary teachers model excellent teaching and learning practice and recognise the importance of ongoing professional growth.

The Victoria Teachers Credit Union Outstanding Primary Teacher Award aims to recognise and develop the talent of innovative primary teachers who have demonstrated excellent teaching practice and made a significant contribution to improving student outcomes. The recipient of the Award will have the opportunity to undertake professional learning in one or more of the following areas:

• Lead a major school-based, cluster or network project
• Undertake research, project work or formal study
• Be mentored by or shadow a colleague

Award details:

• The opportunity for the recipient to identify and undertake professional learning to address an identified need that will result in improved student outcomes
• $10,000 to be used to cover course costs, travel, accommodation and leave to undertake the professional learning activity
• One year’s free membership with the Australian College of Educators and a further three years membership at a reduced rate (half cost)
